I'm such a bum!

Sorry I haven't blogged in so long! I think I'm depressed cause I don't have a computer at home yet! Last month I had to choose between a bed & computer! I chose a bed! Oh well!

Shelby has been handling the Christmas season well! I didn't even think about his music class but when I saw his music teacher I asked him. He told me he just stands and doesn't sing the Christmas songs! He's doing great!

Alyson is definitely trying to assert her independence. She's turned into my new reason to need a drink at night!

It's already starting!

Well, Shelby told me last week that some friends of his all started a club called the Strong Boys Club. They run around at recess & do exersices & NO GIRLS ARE ALLOWED! Isn't that so funny! Shelby's nose is all healed except for a tiny scar but it'll be fine for pics on Wednesday!

And Candi, my whole family has requested more of the pear preserves you brought up! It's all gone already!

Let the Fundraisers begin!

Also, the big news right now is that Shelby broke his nose Saturday! He fell onto the forks of the tractor & now he has a swollen nose & 2 black eyes! Of course, school pics are in 2 weeks! At least he has a good story to tell everyone! He says he got in a "tractor fight"!

Can you believe it's already September!!!

Obviously we didn't come down over the weekend. They pushed off our closing, of course, so we'll let everyone know when the next date is! My parents came up this weekend! We went to Hillsville for the biggest flea market I've ever seen!!!! There was stuff & people EVERYWHERE!!! Someone said it's the biggest one in America! Of course, most of it was junk! I did get some good deals on some cast iron cookware!

Shelby came home with his first fundraiser magazine! So I'll be posting the website on here soon & he'll be hitting everyone up to buy some overpriced trinket!!!

First Day

Shelby is a kindergartener now! He did so good! I had to make him come back & give me a hug! I'm so sad! I wasn't the least bit upset when I put him in preschool but now I just feel like crying! The teacher seems really nice & easy to work with. Hope all is going well with you guys! Talk to you later!

Time Flies

Hey Everyone! Sorry I haven't blogged in a while, I've been a little busy. We've been in a house for about 3 weeks now. I love it! It's one level & small and right in town. I can be at the mall or post office or hall in about 5 minutes. The kids each have their own little room & the living room, dining area & kitchen are one big room. Our room is on the other side of the house.

Shelby doesn't start school until the 20th. We've been there to register & he's very excited. We'll see how he is when I have to leave him there. He will know one other boy in first grade so maybe they'll see each other at lunch or recess.

Everyone is adjusting well. Shelby is doing well, I guess since he understands what's going on. Alyson keeps asking to go home in the truck. It really breaks my heart to hear her cry for home. I just keep telling myself that she'll be ok.

We can't believe how fast we got a contract on our house. We signed with our realtor on Saturday and we had a contract on Wednesday. The people saw it on the Monday before & said they were signing. They are definitely getting a deal. It's such a bittersweet feeling. But we feel it is for the best.

Is anyone still paying attention to me?

Getting Old

Yes, the camper is starting to get old! This is our fourth week in it & it's starting to shrink! The trailer fell thru which is OK by me! Now we're looking at a few houses in town! It's further than we want but we need to get settled for at least a little while!
Two of the guys I've talked to about houses have said they are from Grundy! One of them who's last name is Altizer said he has Horns in his family! He said he has researched his family tree so they may be way back cause Dillo said he doesn't recognize the name!
Anyway, I hope we find something soon! We've had to push back the week we come home so it will probably be July 12th! But we'll see you soon!

The grass is greener on the other side!

Isn't it funny that the grass is the first thing I noticed around here? It is so green & thick! Even on the sides of the roads & in the trees! Everyone has a beautiful yard, even the trailer parks have nice landscapes! Denver says it's because they have nothing else to do around here!

It's so cool to see these old colonial houses & barns! The shop is on top of Bent Mountain & Denver keeps insisting on taking me down this road that has a sign that actually says "not recommended for vehicles!" It is a gravel road on the side of the mountain. I keep imagining Denver hitting the brakes & us going off the side. There are some really cool old log cabins! I want to knock on the doors & ask to go inside!

We think we've found somewhere to stay for awhile. It's definitely not a place I would normally want to live in but the location is perfect. It's in the town we want to be in & Shelby can walk to the elementary school! He says he could also ride his bike! It's also the right price if you know what I mean! We'll see!

Hey Everyone!

Thanks so much for commenting! We feel loved!

We've been driving around discovering parks & the events going on this summer! There are GREAT parks here! The kids are chomping at the bit to go to the county water park for kids! We drove to it & looked inside so the kids can't wait! Hopefully we can go tomorrow! There is a festival going on at the State park nearby so we're going to try to go there Saturday! It's on a lake so it should be fun! Alyson has been asking to go fishing anyway!

Denver will be home tonight so his schedule is working great! Work is actually slowing down for them which is normal for the summer anyway! Which is good for me!

We found out Sunday that this congregation has a sign language group that meets there! Of course Shelby was enthralled & kept pointing & saying "LOOK!" There is also a Spanish group! The English group is the one that is in need of brothers! They actually pulled an english speaking couple out of the spanish group to help the english group! How different from home!

Settling In

I'm at a different library & this one is even nicer than the last one! We've been going to the kingdom hall here in Christiansburg & so far so good! The difference when Denver is with us & when he isn't is amazing. It must be built in to take advantage of Mommy when she's all alone! So far Denver's schedule is working out & he'll be home tonight to go to the bookstudy!

We're Here!

Hey everyone! We made it! We're settled into our gravel parking lot of a campground! It's funny because it's just an overnight campground so everyone is just sleeping there then moving on in the morning! So we get weird looks because we're all set up with our fake grass, picnic table, toys, plants, chairs! Oh well!

Tuesday night Denver brought the 18 wheeler home & parked it in the bottom lot that had absolutely nothing in it. He was going to leave in the morning. So after we ate dinner we decided to take the kids out to get a treat & look around. So we drive out & Denver says "Where is the truck?" It was GONE! The owners had it TOWED!!!!! They said we should have told them it was ours even though they watched Denver get out & walk to our camper!!! So we spent mucho denaro getting it out & then the campground wouldn't give us a refund since that's their policy! How FUN!!!

But all is well now! It's over & done with & me & the kids are going to the park! Until next time!

We're all about to pick up our life & plop it down on an area of Virginia known as the New River Valley area. We don't even know where we will live when we get there. Denver's parents have been kind enough to let us use their camper until we figure it out!
